What do we collect and use personal information for?
In order to.

We need to collect and process personal information about you (including your name, a user name, and in connection with your password, an answer to a question that only you would know).  We may ask you for this information through our site, or via one of our database research executives/other, or we may collect this information through your e-mail or other communications with us.  Certain information is collected automatically, as described later in this Privacy Policy.
We may add to the information that we collect from you and from your use of our services with information that we learn from your interactions with other companies within the wider African Legal Solutions Ltd.

We also collect information from you if you choose to take part in any of our surveys or competitions.  We use this information to contact the winners of competitions and to help us plan other promotional campaigns.

Log files/IP addresses
When you visit our Site, we automatically log your IP address (the unique address which identifies your computer on the internet) which is automatically recognized by our web server.  We use IP addresses to help us administer the Site and to collect broad demographic information for aggregate use.  [We do not link IP addresses to personally identifiable information].

Non personal information

  • A single permanent cookie is written to the user’s PC so they can be identified.  There is no personal data held in this cookie and it is an encrypted ID so we can see the user as a return visitor
  • Also we do write a section cookie as well to determine what section (main menu) to display but this is only a temporary cookie and is deleted when the user closes their browser.
  • Some of the cookies used by our websites are set by us, and some are set by third parties who are delivering services (such as interest based advertising directed at your market segment) on our behalf. GBS Africa Limited’s sites make chat rooms, forums, message boards, and/or news groups available to its users.  Any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should always be careful when deciding to disclose your personal information.
